With over 60,000 miles of creeks, steams, and rivers flowing though Tennessee, natural waterways are significant features in our landscapes. They provide many benefits, from feeding our drinking water resources to recreation and agriculture. However, land use change and increased storm intensities are putting natural channels at risk of erosion. Creekbank erosion causes sediment pollution and loss of land. Thankfully there are techniques and management practices that can be implemented to help repair and protect vulnerable and eroded banks.
This is a collection of resources for landowners, land management practitioners, and designers interested in a nature-based approach to reducing creekbank erosion.
