Full to part sun, wet to moderately wet moisture level, tolerates a wide range of soils including clay, neutral to alkaline pH. 2-4 feet height, blooms summer into fall, blue/purple/violet flowers, spreads by rhizomes.

This plant will succeed in ordinary garden soil that does not dry out during the growing season. It is best known for its use as an herbal tea.
