Common Name:  Royal Catchfly

Full to part sun but best with some shade, medium to moderately dry moisture level, sandy or gravelly soil, neutral to alkaline pH.  3-4 feet height, blooms in summer, crimson red flowers, will re-seed and also forms short rhizomes that allow the plant to form small colonies.

In Tennessee, this plant is designated “Possibly Extirpated, Endangered.”  Showy flowers.  Excellent drainage is essential for growing this plant.  Fairly easy to grow but tends to be slower to develop than other plants.  Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds.
