Common Name: Waxy-leaf Meadow Rue

Part sun to light shade; moderately wet to medium moisture level; prefers rich soils but will grow in clay loam or sandy loam; moderately to slightly acid pH; may spread by rhizomes to form colonies.  4-6 feet height, blooms in spring, white flowers.

Plant height varies considerably depending on amount of moisture available and nutrients in the soil. Plants gradually die down during summer but growth resumes at the base during fall. This species has a pungent odor especially obvious after a rain which accounts for its other common name, Skunk Meadowrue. Native to open woods, thickets, and meadows.
