Full to part sun, dry moisture level, sandy soil, acidic pH. 18-30 inches height, blooms summer into fall, white to pink flowers.

Designated an “Endangered Species” in Tennessee. Twigs appear scaly and light brown with many joints, hence the common name. Foliage resembles that of cedar trees. Prefers sunny, dry, sandy areas.
