Germination Code: A
Native Region: Cumberland Plateau and Ridge and Valley provinces
Warm season, clump-forming grass that is easy to grow. Grown for its attractive foliage and feathery flower/seed panicles. Usually occurs in wet soils on edges of marshes or in low wet spots. Ideal for wetland gardens. Perhaps best for large-scale gardens because it seeds heavily and may fall over once it reaches full height. Attracts birds and butterflies; larval host for skippers and satyrs.
