Common Name: Splitbeard Bluestem

Full to part sun, moderately dry to dry moisture level, prefers sandy soils, very strongly acid to neutral pH.  2-4 feet height, blooms late summer into fall, green flowers, slow to re-seed.

Warm season grass known primarily for its attractive silvery white seed tufts that catch the sunlight. There are only a few small leaves; the bulk of the plant is composed of flower spikes.  Can be used alone as a nice garden accent or en masse as an attractive addition to a wildflower meadow.
