Common Name: Broomsedge Bluestem, Broom-sedge

Part shade, medium to moderately dry moisture level, prefers sandy soil but tolerates most soils except rocky, very strongly acid to neutral pH.  2-4 feet height, blooms in fall, yellow flowers, re-seeds freely and can be weedy or invasive.

Germination Code:  A.  Seed very hard to collect and clean

Native Region: Statewide

Warm season grass that turns a tawny brown in fall.  Can be an invader on disturbed lands.  Good choice for areas needing erosion control.  Attracts birds, butterflies and bees.
