Full to part sun, moderately wet to medium moisture level, loamy or sandy soil with decaying organic matter, mildly acidic to alkaline pH. 3-10 ft. height, blooms in spring, white/green flowers. Reseeds easily under optimum conditions.

Designated a “Threatened Species” in Tennessee. Naturally occurs in wetlands. It is a large perennial that needs lots of space.
