Common Name: Gray’s Sedge, Common Bur Sedge, Morning Star Sedge

Best in full sun but tolerates light shade, wet to medium moisture level, rich soil, moderately acid to neutral pH.  2-3 feet height, spreads slowly by seed and slowly by rhizomes.

Germination Code:  C(60)

Native Region:  Statewide but most concentrated in western half of the state

Cool season.  Showy flowers on a low maintenance plant.  Attractive fruits remain on the plant in winter, which creates an interesting accent.  Lovely planted alone or in a group.  Resents drying out and suffers in dry soil and hot sun.
