Part to full shade, moderately wet to moderately dry moisture level, fertile loam soil. 6-12 inches height, spreads primarily by re-seeding.

Native Region: Statewide but most concentrated in Interior Low Plateaus
Cool season. Occurs in woodlands, wooded slopes, and edges of woodland paths. Attracts butterflies.
