Common Name: Painted Sedge, Boott’s Sedge

Part sun to light shade, medium to moderately dry moisture level, sandy loam soil.  4-12 inches height.

Cool season.  Grass-like plant.  One of the few sedges with male and female plants.  Showy flower spikes of yellow, green and brown.  Usually occurs in woodlands and grows in dense, low tufts of foliage, often developing into large populations.
