Common Name: Short’s Sedge

Full to part sun, moderately wet to medium moisture level, tolerant of most soils except rocky, strongly acid to neutral pH.  1 ½ – 2 ½ feet height, spreads slowly by re-seeding.

Native Region:  Occurs in only 9 counties scattered statewide

Cool season.  Has showy, dark brown spikelets.  Good for wetlands and streambank stabilization, groundcover and mass planting.  Good erosion control for wetland projects.  Attracts butterflies and birds.
