Full sun, moderately dry to dry moisture level, grows best on sandy soil but can handle heavier soil including clay, slightly acid to moderately alkaline pH.  2-4 feet height, blooms late spring, green/yellow flowers, re-seeds rapidly.

Cool season.  Easy to grow and establishes quickly.  Known for its fine-textured, purplish inflorescence and graceful, arching habit.  Frequently flops over onto its neighbors late in the season.  Leaves turn rusty tan in winter.  Useful for stabilizing sandy areas.
