Gillenia stipulata (Porteranthus stipulata)

Common Name:  Midwestern Indian Physic, American Ipecac

Part shade, moderately wet to moderately dry moisture level, prefers rich soil but tolerant of a wide range of soils including clay, acidic to neutral pH.  2-3 ft. height, blooms spring to early summer, white flowers.

Native Region: Statewide but concentrated in Highland Rim and parts of Ridge and Valley provinces

Great garden plant.  Appearance similar to Gaura but this plant favors part shade.  Will grow in full sun but requires shade at the hottest part of the day.
