Common Name:  Giant Sunflower, Tall Sunflower

Full sun, moderately wet to medium moisture level, sandy soil.  8 feet height, blooms late summer and fall, yellow flowers, spreads aggressively by rhizomes.

Native Region: Only in Davidson, Rutherford, Scott and Monroe counties

Large showy plant that can get up to 10 feet in height.  Despite its name, flower heads are comparatively small; its name comes from its height.  Attracts birds, bees and butterflies.
