Full to part sun, moderately wet to moderately dry moisture level, humus-rich soil.  1-3 ft. height, blooms in summer, red-orange flowers.

Native Region:  Only occurs in 4 counties — Claiborne, Grundy, Sequatchie, and Hamil

Designated an “Endangered Species” in Tennessee.  Since there are different regional varieties of this species, it is important to buy them as close to home as possible.  Attracts birds, including hummingbirds.
