Common Name:  Eastern Smooth Beardtongue

Full to part sun, medium to moderately dry moisture level, average soil, moderately to slightly acid pH.  2-3 ft. height, blooms late spring to early summer, purple flowers with white lips.

Native Region: Scattered statewide but primarily in Ridge and Valley and Highland Rim Provinces

This penstemon appears to be a short-lived successional species that is unpredictable in its appearance and disappearance.  Individual plants may not persist at a specific location for more than a few years.  Attracts bees.
