Common Name: Rufous Bulrush

Full to part sun, wet to medium moisture level, prefers soil with high organic matter that retains moisture.  2-4 feet height, blooms in April, red flowers, will occasionally form small colonies of plants.

Native Region:  Statewide but concentrated in the Interior Low Plateaus

This adaptable species often occurs in woodlands and other drier areas as well as in wetlands.  Yellow-green foliage and drooping clusters of flowers on the stems.  Attracts ducks and some other birds.
