Common Name: Prairie Dock, Prairie Rosinweed
Full sun, moderately wet to moderately dry moisture level, prefers a deep loamy soil due to its taproot but tolerates a wide range of soils including clay, adaptable to a range of pH. 3-10 feet height, blooms summer into fall, yellow flowers.

Native Region: Lightly scattered in Interior Low Plateaus and concentrated in the Ridge and Valley Province
Easy to grow. Tall, rough sunflower-like perennial. Deep taproot on a plant that is slow to establish and may not bloom until second or third year. Excellent for naturalizing. Called Rosinweed due to the copious amounts of resin exuded from injured parts of the plant. Attracts birds, butterflies and bees.
