Common Name:  Short’s Aster

Part to full shade, medium to moderately dry moisture level, rich sandy or loamy soil.  2-4 ft. height, blooms in fall, blue flowers, self-sows readily.

Native Region:  Concentrated in Middle Tennessee, lightly in East Tennessee

Centers of flowers start out yellow but turn brick red after pollination. Individual plants are short-lived. Attracts birds, butterflies and hummingbirds.
